Moderation

As Easel involves making games which may be played by teenagers, it is important to have a system in place to moderate the content of the games.

Banning Players

If you find that a player is being disruptive in your game, you can ban them from playing. In Easel, bans are what's called "shadow bans", meaning that the banned player will not know that they are banned. They will still be able to play the game, but they will be unable to interact with anyone else. It will appear to them as if no one is online.

Bans in Easel both ban the account and all IP addresses that have used been used by the player recently.

How to ban a player

The easiest way to ban a player is from the Player List. You either need to be playing with the player in the same game, spectating the game, or watching a replay of the game.

  1. Press Ctrl+Shift+P to open the Player List.
  2. Click on the player's name to open up their profile.
  3. Click the Ban button.

If you have reports of players being disruptive in your game, it is best if your users send you a replay so you can quickly and easily access its Player List. They can do this by simply copying the URL in the address bar of their browser when they are in the game and sending it to you.
