Code of Conduct

Last updated: 24 February 2025

Easel is about playing and making games with other people. Our aim is to be a safe space that people 13 years and older can enjoy. To that end, we have a few rules that we ask everyone to follow.

Rules for Players

This applies to everyone who plays games on Easel.

  1. Be kind and respectful to others.
  2. Do not bully, harass, or threaten others.
  3. Do not share personal information about others without their permission.
  4. Do not cheat or exploit bugs in the game or the Easel platform.
  5. Do not use hate speech or make discriminatory comments.
  6. Do not share inappropriate content. This includes sexual content or graphic violence.
  7. Do not impersonate others or pretend to be someone you are not.
  8. Do not spam or flood the chat.
  9. Do not share links to harmful or malicious websites.
  10. No advertising is allowed unless it is for an Easel game or content related to Easel.

Players who violate these rules may be banned from Easel.

Rules for Creators

This applies to everyone who creates games on Easel.

  1. Do not create games that are unlawful or that enable illegal activities.
  2. Do not create games that infringe on the intellectual property rights of others.
  3. Do not create games that contain sexual content.
  4. Do not create games that promote hate speech or discrimination.
  5. Do not create games that are designed to bully, harass, or threaten others.
  6. Do not create games that enable gambling for real-world money or tokens that can be exchanged for real-world money.

Games that violate these rules will be removed from Easel.

If a game does not violate these rules, but does not meet a PG-13 standard (for example, due to excessive swearing), its visibility may be restricted on the platform. If you want as many people as possible to be able to play your game, please keep it to PG-13 standards.

Credit guidelines for remixes

If you create a project that is a remix of another project, and more than 50% of the code and assets are still the same as the original project, then your project must credit the original project through the project metadata. Specifically, the [remixOf] section of easel.toml must contain the Game ID of the original project. This is added automatically by the Easel editor, so in most cases you don't need to worry about it.

Reporting Violations

Please report violations to either our Discord or hello@easel.games. Include as much information as possible, such as the username of the person who violated the rules and what they did, the name of the game, the timestamp of the incident, and any other relevant information.
